Pass the Camera

the magic behind sharing your passion

My love for film started with disposable cameras. Disposables are not intimidating. Leave one laying around and people prove not shy to pick it up and shoot a couple of pictures on their own. It made developing the film more interesting.

Once I had stepped up from using disposables to using The Hog (See above),  I had to become more intentional when passing the camera. The child-like plastic camera was a buffer to strangers for fear and the unknown. A camera with more buttons and a shiny silver armor was simply less inviting to pick up and use.

It was in important part of the process - passing the camera. Each point of view unfolds the story more honestly than I could alone. I have had some of my most treasured pictures result from passing the camera.

As I venture into less widely  known technology, as in very vintage equipment, I will have to be even more accommodating to gain the perspective of others. Looking ahead, I intend to curate a collection of images that demonstrate how much we can learn from seeing things through a different lens, one other than your own.
